Privacy Policy

We at the Crisis Pregnancy Centers of Greater Phoenix, Inc. (CPC) want this site to be a safe and private place for every person who visits. We therefore do not require you to register or provide any information about yourself to us at all in order to use almost every feature on this web site. We do recommend you read the following information however, as it pertains to certain services of our site you may wish to use.

There are certain actions and areas of the web site that will require you to provide personal information, such as

  1. participating in message board discussions and
  2. filling out and submitting any of our several forms (for example, donation, e-mail contact, join e-mail list, school, or church forms).

Any time you provide personal information, you should be mindful of the terms of this privacy policy, as it will govern our use of the information you have provided.

We may update our privacy policy as it becomes necessary, so be sure to check back periodically and note any changes to these terms. Please know that in submitting any information to us, you are also agreeing that CPC may use the information in accordance with this privacy policy.

Personal Information You Choose to Provide

In order to take advantage of certain areas of our site (such as the message board or various forms), you may voluntarily provide us with personal information about yourself. Know that if you do choose to submit any personal information to us, we will use that information for the purposes for which it was submitted. We may also use your information to contact you about other CPC activities related to your visit that you would want to know about, as will be disclosed to you at the point of collection, and we may share your information with other like-minded organizations, including other CPC entities, for similar purposes. For example:

If you join our e-mail list, we will have a record of your e-mail address and any other information you choose to provide. We may then in the future contact you by e-mail about a broad range of CPC activities.

If you make an on-line donation to CPC, your information will be added to CPC's donor list and database, and you will be contacted about other CPC activities, news, and/or fundraising campaigns.

We will receive any other information you choose to provide, such as optional information or "personal stories" you submit. By submitting a story to us, you give us permission to edit it, post it on the web site, and use it in appropriate settings designed to illustrate the importance of sexual health, etc. To protect your privacy, please do not include any identifying information in your "personal story."

You should be aware that we use third-party vendors to provide services on this site and in our offline business operations. The information that you submit on this site may be provided to those vendors on a confidential basis so that those vendors can, in turn, provide services (such as maintaining our database, sending e-mail messages to select groups, facilitating our fundraising efforts, or processing credit card transactions) on our behalf.

Other than as described in this privacy policy, or as may be necessary to protect the rights, property, and safety of our organization, our clients, or others, or as may be necessary to comply with applicable law, CPC will not under any circumstances give or sell the personal information you provide on-line.

Financial Information You Choose to Provide

If you choose to make an on-line donation to CPC, you will be required to provide your credit card billing information. As this information is collected and transferred over the Internet to our secure server, it is encrypted using Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology, the industry standard security technology designed to protect sensitive information. Our donation pages display the Verisign Secure Site Seal to assure you that our web site is authentic and that all transactions are secured by SSL encryption. If you are making a donation, the credit card billing information you provide at the time of donation will be used only to process your donation and not for any other purposes then or in the future.

Information Automatically Collected and Stored

As is true of most sites you enter on the World Wide Web, we automatically collect and store some information about your computer and your visit in "log files." This includes information such as your computer's (or your ISP's) Internet Protocol (IP) address (this is not your e-mail address); the domain from which you accessed the Internet (for example, "yahoo.com" or "asu.edu"); the name, version, and specifications of your computer and your computer's operating system; the Internet address of the web site, if any, from which you came to our site; the date and time you arrived at our site and how long you spent on the site; and which pages you visited.

This information is used to gather statistics (potentially with the help of outside experts, in some cases) that show the number of visitors to the different sections of the site and to help us make our site more useful to visitors. For example, we may use the browser information collected to guide us in formatting our web site so that as many people as possible will be able to view the pages correctly. It is important to remember to note that these statistics do not reveal personal information about you the visitor.

Use of Cookies

A "cookie" is a small data file created by a web server that is stored on your computer either temporarily for that session only ("session cookies") or permanently on the hard disk ("persistent cookie"). Cookies provide a way for the web site to recognize you and keep track of your preferences.

We use both session cookies and persistent cookies on www.choicesaz.com.

Session Cookies: Session cookies are used to make it easier for you to navigate certain areas of our web site. If you choose to provide personal information by using an interactive application on our site, such as by joining our e-mail list, or making an on-line donation to CPC, we place a session cookie on your computer in order that you may be recognized as you navigate the web pages. Unless you opt-in to change these session cookies to persistent cookies (see Persistent Cookies below), the information is only used for the duration of your browser session.

For example, if you join our e-mail list and then navigate through different pages of the web site, the session cookie stored on your computer will enable the information you entered when you filled out the e-mail list registration page to be maintained. For your convenience, any fields throughout the site requiring information about you that have already been captured will automatically appear. However, upon closing your browser window, the session cookie times out and is lost. When you revisit our site, your personal information fields will not be filled in automatically.

Persistent Cookies: The use of persistent cookies provides us greater accuracy in the analysis of the information automatically collected about your visit to our site. A persistent cookie remains on your hard drive for an extended period of time. However, these cookies do not collect personal information, and neither do we link the information collected through these persistent cookies with other personal data you provide to us.

In certain circumstances, you may be given the choice to turn a session cookie into a persistent cookie on your computer (for example, "Would you like us to remember your password?" messages). If you choose to turn a session cookie into a persistent cookie, that persistent cookie will remember your personal information (for example, your user name and password) and will not time out when your browser session ends. See "Your Help Is Necessary" below for more information.

Deleting Cookies: Session cookies time out and are lost when you close your browser window, so there is no need to delete them. Persistent cookies, on the other hand, leave a record on your computer that you have visited a web site. You can, however, remove cookies from your computer whenever you want. More information on deleting cookies from your computer can be found under your Internet browser's "Help" section. Before deleting, keep in mind though that some sites require cookies to function properly. If you delete cookies, some sites may require that you re-register and you may experience difficulty in browsing some sites as well.

Clear Gifs (Web Beacons)

We make use of a software technology called clear gifs (also Web Beacons) that help us better manage content on our site by informing us what content is effective. Clear gifs are tiny graphics with a unique identifier, similar in function to cookies, and are used to track the on-line movements of web users. In contrast to cookies, which are stored on a user's computer hard drive, clear gifs are embedded invisibly on web pages and are about the size of the period at the end of this sentence. We do not link the information gathered through clear gifs with other personal data that you provide to us.

On-line Advertisements

From time to time, we may run on-line advertisements on third-party web sites to attract visitors to our site or to alert our supporters to special opportunities. These ads are delivered to users by Advertising.com, Inc., our advertising partner. Advertising.com uses cookies and clear GIFs on this site and on the third-party sites on which our ads appear, which allow Advertising.com to track certain information about user behavior, such as "click-stream data." For more information about our third-party advertiser and their privacy practices, or to learn more about the choices available to you regarding Advertising.com's usage of the data they collect, please click here.

Security

Security measures are used to protect the potential loss, misuse, and alteration of the information on the web site under our control. The security measures used on this site include, but are not limited to, industry-standard Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology, Verisign certificates, firewalls, and internal policies to maintain the security of stored data. While we follow the generally accepted industry standards to protect any personal information we receive, no method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage, is 100 percent secure. Therefore, while we are committed to use any and all commercially acceptable means to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

When you donate to CPC through this web site, you will have a personal subscription management page, where you will be able to edit your personal information, as well as review your messaging and advocacy records. Access to your personal subscription management page is controlled to protect the privacy of your data — our web site requires that you log on with your e-mail address and personal password to access your personal subscription management page. The log-on process may be automated if you choose to accept the placement of a persistent cookie on your personal computer. See "Use of Cookies" and "Your Help Is Necessary" for more information on persistent cookies.

It is important for you to know that if and when security is compromised, it is most often the result of the user not protecting their own information. Thus we have included the following section of our privacy policy to communicate some suggested actions to help control and maintain the security of your personal information.

Your Help Necessary

Although CPC does its best to protect your privacy on our site, your help is also necessary.

Remember that you have control over your own privacy. Think carefully and cautiously before providing any personal information to ours or any web site.

While our site has employed up-to-date and advanced security measures in order to protect the loss, misuse, and alteration of the information under our control, no e-mail or web transmission is completely shielded against interception. If you are worried that your communication is especially sensitive, make sure you do not send it over e-mail or submit it on-line.

It is impossible for us to protect your privacy once navigate away from our site, such as by "hyperlink." So when you visit other web sites, including those within www.choicesaz.com and whether they are CPC-related organizations or not, it is wise to read each one's privacy policy yourself, and show caution before providing any of them with personal information.

You should be aware that in certain areas of this site we utilize personalization measures designed to make your site experience with us more enjoyable (that is, personalized links in e-mail that allow data fields to be automatically populated with certain personal information). We need your help to protect the information embedded in these links. You should always keep your e-mail account information secure and not allow others to access your e-mail account.

In addition, you should only forward our e-mail messages to others through the "Tell A Friend" buttons or links provided within the e-mail. When you use your e-mail system's forwarding capabilities (i.e., not "Tell a Friend"), others may be able to take actions in your name and/or access your personal information.

You may have the choice of creating a persistent cookie on your computer (see Use of Cookies above). Remember that once you have set a persistent cookie linked to your personal information, anyone can access your personal information by using your computer.

In addition to those records stored on your computer through cookies, your browser and operating system keep other records of your web browsing and other actions (for example, "browser history"). Like cookies, you can find information about how to edit such histories in your browser's "Help" section or through other web sites that provide detailed information for each browser and operating system. See also Use of Cookies, Deleting Cookies above.
