Volunteering

The desire of power in excess caused the angels to fall; the desire of knowledge in excess caused man to fall: but in charity there is no excess; neither can angel or man come in danger by it.
—Francis Bacon, Essays
In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, 'It is more blessed to give than to receive.'"
(Acts 20:35)
Introduction
Thank you for your interest in volunteering to partner with us in carrying out our crucial mission of saving lives and protecting futures. CPC volunteering includes three primary areas: (1) counseling in our centers, (2) teaching our curricula on school campuses (middle and high school), and (3) venturing onto college campuses to engage students with handouts and information. (However, there are an abundance of volunteer roles available; see Volunteer Opportunities.) If you are considering joining our team than you most likely share our expectation to see God's grace and peace prevail in a tumultuous and pivotal moment in our culture and in history as well. Together, we can literally be used by God to shape history by greeting our clients with both physical care (through pregnancy testing, STI testing, sonogram, post-abortive counseling, abstinence education, etc.) and spiritual care (through God's ever-proven principles of truth). This combination of the physical and the spiritual make CPC an organization different from many others—one that is dynamic, balanced, and successful. We are relevant, yet, trusted; consistent, yet, innovative; principled, yet, driven by compassion; in a battle, yet resting in the Lord's provision and plan.
Amazingly, through CPC we see God's arm extending into the community and making a real difference in the lives of the hurting and broken. And this we think is just what the body of Christ is supposed to do—extend its arm to touch the broken and downtrodden with the love of Christ. CPC is one extension of this beautiful network, the church. As such, we need people just like yourself who want to partner with this mission of "saving lives and protecting futures"; a mission that is driven by prayer, passion, the hands and feet of volunteers, and the dollars of donors.
Common Questions
Who may volunteer? Mature Christian men and women 21 years and older.
Why volunteer? To experience the blessing of God and love him by loving and helping others. This is an opportunity to serve the Lord by reaching out to young women and men in distress and offer them the emotional, spiritual, and practical resources demanded by the difficulties attending a crisis pregnancy. It is also an opportunity to help protect the sanctity of human life by offering information and loving support so the woman can choose life for her unborn child.
How do I volunteer? You must go through our Volunteer Training program. All that is required is that you undergo a volunteer interview, a two-day training seminar and procedures workshop, and finally attend six to eight on-the-job training sessions. This training provides about 40 total hours of peer counseling training which will equip you to serve both teens and adults in their moment of need.
What should I expect? To counsel clients who test either positive or negative for sexually transmitted infections, but also to grow spiritually, to build strong, intimate bonds with other staff throughout this ministry, and to see God use you to help "save lives and protect futures."
Operation Integrity Training
Operation Integrity (OI) training is for volunteer educators (and paid staff) who are going to be speaking on school campuses as opposed to counseling in the centers. Individuals who desire to spend time on school campuses teaching our curricula makeup a significant service area of CPC.
We seek to enlist the most qualified and committed individuals in OI (which is why there is an application process and interview). It is an intensive training that requires the purchase of materials and the commitment to continuing education and an ongoing presence in the schools. But it is a high calling well worth the effort and commitment it demands. (To find out more about our curricula and Operation Integrity training, click here.)
For the Glory of God
In everything we do here at CPC we seek magnify God. We know that it is only because of him we are here, and that because he has placed us here he has work for us to do each day (divine appointments). When we pray with the people who find their way into our centers, we want to tell them about Jesus and introduce them to the Savior. Then we want to place them in a church to be mentored and built up by godly relationships.
